I’m so glad you’re here
Let’s connect.
I’m Dr. Mendoza—a clinician, educator, and advocate with over 20 years of experience supporting women, birthing people, and families across the reproductive continuum. My work is grounded in cultural humility, clinical depth, and a holistic understanding of wellness that honors mind, body, spirit, identity, and community.
As an Afro-Latina and New York native, I bring a layered, relational perspective to care, shaped by lived experience and a foundation in Health Psychology. My clinical focus includes perinatal and reproductive mental health, reproductive grief and loss, and chronic reproductive conditions such as endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, and hormonal transitions—including perimenopause, & menopause, often invisible challenges that deeply impact well-being and identity.
My journey began with a Bachelor’s in Child & Family Services and Child Care Management, where I developed a strong understanding of human development. Later, working as a Bilingual Parent Educator for pregnant and parenting teens in Texas, I witnessed the emotional toll of postpartum depression and the unique challenges faced by young mothers.
This led me to pursue a Master’s in Counseling from St. Edward’s University and later, a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University. I also hold a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and advanced training in Perinatal Loss and Grief.

Healing lives in the space between personal restoration and community transformation
Experience Across Systems & Communities
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it’s rooted in community, education, and the systems we dare to reimagine.
Clinical Experience
I’ve had the privilege of working across diverse medical, academic, nonprofit, and community spaces, including:

New York-Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center
St. David’s Hospital
Legacy Emanuel Medical Center
Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital
Primary Care & Research:

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation
Academic & Veteran Care Settings:

Reproductive Mental Health Specialty Care:
The Motherhood Center of NY
In every setting, I’ve worked on interdisciplinary teams—partnering with OB/GYNs, doulas, pediatricians, social workers, and wellness professionals to provide whole-person care. I bring extensive experience supporting LGBTQIA+ communities, veterans, and historically excluded populations.
Healing is both art & advocacy
Healing must honor the fullness of who we are—our ancestors, our bodies, our stories, and our dreams.
Integrated, Relationship-Centered Care
My approach is relational, culturally responsive, and integrative. I draw from evidence-based therapies—CBT, DBT, ACT, IPT, and MI—while incorporating mindfulness, movement, bibliotherapy, nature-based practices, and ancestral or spiritual exploration when appropriate. Together, we tailor care to reflect your lived experience and support your full self.
BEYOND THE THERAPY ROOM
In addition to therapy I offer:
Wellness coaching for individuals in transition
Mentorship for early-career therapists and students
Consultation and training for professionals and organizations committed to equity in maternal and reproductive health
Whether I’m in the therapy room or a training space, I bring a spirit of empowerment, reflection, and practical tools for growth. At the heart of it all is a commitment to healing that is both personal and collective.
It is an honor to do this work.
In all that I do, I honor the complexity of identity, generational experience, and the layered transitions of womanhood. Whether you are navigating fertility, pregnancy, loss, parenting, burnout, perimenopause, or menopause—or simply seeking to reconnect with yourself, this is a space for you to be held, heard, and supported.
Therapy services are available to California residents only, and are provided under the supervision of Dr. Veronika Castillo, Licensed Psychologist. Coaching, consultation, and training services are available remotely to individuals and organizations across the U.S. and internationally, where appropriate.
